Google is now starting pre-orders for Googlebook, a new category of laptops designed to transform user’s everyday work. The new laptop runs on the Android tech stack with desktop foundations from Chrome OS. The first Googlebook lineup includes flagship devices from Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and ASUS, with price starting from $899. The laptop features premium materials such as aluminum, magnesium alloy, and carbon fiber.
Users can find responsive touchscreens with up to 2.8K OLED displays, haptic glass trackpads, and backlit keyboards. It also includes high-end processors such as Intel and Qualcomm, paired with NPUs capable of over 45 TOPS and battery life for up to 14 hours.
Seamless Phone-to-Laptop Integration
A key feature of Googlebook is its Android foundation, so a user’s phone and laptop work together. Features such as Continue let users start exactly where they left off on their phone or laptop. The Files feature also lets users view, search, and open files and photos from their phone directly in Googlebook’s Files app.
Cast My Apps lets users' stream and interact with phone apps in a desktop window without interrupting their workflow.

Developers get a full terminal environment to run AI agents like Claude Code or Antigravity CLI for agentic coding.

Alongside the hardware, Googlebook OS comes with feature drops and up to 10 years of updates. One of the interesting parts is that pre-orders are now open on the Google Store, Best Buy, and other select retailers. These devices will arrive in stores on October 4 in the US and October 5 in Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, and Australia. Google has emphasized that Googlebook is not here to replace Chromebooks; Chromebooks will continue to serve education and enterprise markets.
