Google Photos, with over 1 billion users, is now introducing a new and fun AI-powered feature called “Me Meme” for Android and iOS users in the US. It allows users to create personalized memes with AI. Me Meme is the easiest way to explore your photos and curate content that can be shared with your friends and family. The tool uses generative AI to place a user’s photo into popular meme templates with funny or relatable captions.
How Does Me Meme Work?
- To create a meme, users should first open Google Photos.
- Tap Create, then Select Me Meme.
- Select the meme template from the available options
- Add a photo; it can be a selfie or a front-facing photo.
AI then integrates the selected photo into the meme template, automatically generating text above and below the image in meme style. Users can save, share, or regenerate the meme and provide feedback. The AI generation runs only on photos chosen by the user. This ensures privacy and control, while creations are stored locally unless shared.
A Fun, Experimental AI Experience
This feature is still experimental and currently limited to US users. Me Meme is here to provide a fun, guided, and shareable meme-creation experience without involving any third-party apps. Alongside, we need a network connection. It’s clear that, due to its unique, interactive, and personal nature, Google's enhancement will surely be in the buzz.
With Me Meme, Google Photos plans to expand its suite of AI-driven tools to boost and create content. While Google has not yet announced the global rollout of the feature, it represents Google's efforts to integrate AI into photos, combining personalization, creativity, and social sharing in one place.
