Roby Stein, VP of Product at Google Search, recently announced on X that Google is expanding its AI Mode info monitoring capability to all users globally. When Google first announced this feature, it was only available to Ultra and Pro subscribers but now is being rolled out more broadly through the Google app. It continuously checks for the changing information on the web and beyond.
How Does AI Mode Info Monitoring Work?
While explaining how the feature works, Stein wrote on X:
“Just tell AI Mode exactly what to look for & Search will continuously check across changing info on the web like sites, forums and social posts, our real-time data sources, and Shopping Graph of 60B+ products, so you can stay up to date with fresh info.”
He attached a demo video in the announcement, wherein users can ask AI Mode to monitor weekend pop-up events or vintage markets in a city like Austin. In a demonstration, the system created a task to track local events such as flea markets, stoop sales, and block parties.
Stein also suggested trying queries like:
- New restaurants or pop-ups are open near me.
- Local holiday stuff to do with the kids.
- Back-in-stock and price-drop-updates.
One of the noteworthy points is that the feature even suggests tasks when you are searching, so you can stay updated with the latest information when it happens.
Information Agents Announced at Google I/O vs Info Monitoring
At Google I/O in May 2026, the company introduced information agents for AI Mode. It was initially available to Ultra subscribers only, across all AI Mode languages and markets. However, the new capability is referred to as “info monitoring” rather than information agents.
The expansion of AI Mode info monitoring capability is here to make AI Mode helpful for tracking local events, shopping deals, and other information across the web that changes frequently. The feature is rolling out now and can be seen in the Google app.
