Googleโs AI Mode is now expanding and has thus added a bundle of outstanding features for users. Itโs making it more straightforward for users to interact with the search. The new features include PDF uploads, Canvas for planning, and Search Live with video assistance.
As stated by Robby Stein, VP of Product in a blog post, โA number of these features are focused on students, โjust in time for the back-to-school season.โ Starting today, the AI Mode button will appear on the Google homepage for desktop users.
If youโre a student, parent, or simply an educator, the AI Mode can help you give answers to complex questions and discover quality information on the web, Robby added further.
Here are some of the newly launched features in Googleโs AI Mode:
Search Live is Now Here!
Google is set to roll out the Search Live feature with video input for users in the US enrolled in the AI Mode Labs experiment. Itโs built on Googleโs Project Astra and features an expert who can view what you can view and offer real-time explanations and suggestions when you go live with search.
Search Live is integrated with Google Lens. To get started, go to Google Lens and click on the โLiveโ icon. You can ask anything that you wish to by pointing towards the camera. Itโs that simple!
AI Mode Now Supports Image & PDF Uploads
Google is going above and beyond with the expansion of new features in AI Mode. Another noteworthy point is that users can now upload images and PDFs directly into Google Search on desktop. Alongside this, they can ask complex questions regarding the files and receive AI-generated responses with accurate results.
This is mainly focused on students who can easily upload their lecture slides and request an explanation for them. Although image upload is now live, PDF support is scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks. Students can make their learning easy and convenient through this platform.
Planning Study Smoothly with Canvas
Staying organized makes it easy to reach the end goal effectively. Storing information in different places can lead to confusion and is time-consuming. Hereโs where Googleโs AI mode UK has introduced the Canvas feature. Itโs an all-new planning and organization tool.
When youโre staring down a big project or task, staying organized and keeping track of information from different places can be challenging. Thatโs where the new Canvas feature in AI Mode can help. Canvas opens a dynamic side panel where users can save their plans, such as grocery lists, trips, study guides, and more.
To get started with the Canvas sessions, users can click on โCreate Canvasโ in AI Mode. Another feature is that the tool is designed for multi-session use, allowing users to return and update their projects gradually.
Lens in Chrome Gets Smarter
Now on the list is Lens in Chrome. The standout update allows users to ask contextual questions about web content from the browser. Users can mark text or graphics and receive AI Overviews in a side panel by using the new "Ask Google about this page" option in the Chrome URL bar. Users can then use AI Mode to pose follow-up queries.
AI Mode is undoubtedly taking a big step forward with these newly launched features for users. Google is consistently enhancing its AI capabilities, marking a significant position in the AI space. While that being said, Google has also recently introduced AI Mode in the UK, wherein users can see a tab in the Search results page.
