Apple’s WWDC25, the Worldwide Developers Conference 2025, kicked off on Monday, 9th June 2025, bringing standout updates to its operating systems and software, alongside a key focus on design overhaul and expanding AI capabilities across its ecosystem. There’s something more exciting about the design part that Apple hasn’t done in a decade. Indeed, a great move from Apple!
Liquid Glass: Changing the Design Experience
The first and most impressive is “Liquid Glass” basically a shimmery, reflective design language that’s here to make your Apple devices such as iPad, iPhone, or Mac look aesthetically pleasing.
The Liquid Glass display is completely translucent and will act in the actual world like glass. Your content impacts the screen's color, which changes according to the light and dark color. This stands as Apple’s outstanding visual update since iOS 7, which was released in 2013. This will be the new look for buttons, sliders, media controls, tab bars, and sidebars.
All About the New Naming Schemes
The next highlight is the change in the naming scheme for its operating system. Indeed, an interesting update, starting with this year's release. All iOS versions will be named according to the year following their release. Hence, the most recent releases are called visionOS 26, TVOS 26, watchOS 26, macOS 26, and iOS 26.
Apple Intelligence
Here comes upgrades to Apple Intelligence, which is the company's AI-powered suite of features. The Live Translation feature uses on-device AI models for translating messages and phone calls. Apple Pay is also integrated with Apple Intelligence for making purchases, tracking orders, and more.
Visual Intelligence
It’s also integrating Visual Intelligence wherein users can know more about what’s on their iPhone screens, like anything they are viewing supposed photos, camera, or any other option; it acts accordingly.
This feature enables visual searches across supported apps like Google and Etsy to find similar images or products. If the tool detects an event on screen, iOS 26 will share suggestions on adding it to the user's calendar, accessible via the familiar screenshot button combination.
Gaming App: The Best News for Gamers
Now the turn is towards a new gaming app that’s all set to bring together your gaming experience across Apple products. Alongside, users can also see their achievements and leaderboards.
With all the core updates, various apps also come with visual and functional revamps. Call screening is going to be included in the Phone app on iOS 26. The messaging app is also getting customized with chat backgrounds, spam filtering, and group chat pools.
Now for all the tech developers, Apple has come up with generative AI in its Xcode coding tool. It helps in testing, writing, and more with the support of ChatGPT. APIs are also being updated to assist developers in coping with the Liquid glass design.
Updated Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are also being released to help developers adapt their apps to the new Liquid Glass design.
Ending Note!
Some of the other features announced were polls in iMessage, Apple Wallets, and more. According to Apple, all the newly announced features will be available for free to all Apple users as an update, this July. The whole and sole motto behind Apple’s WWDC announcements was creating intelligent, and best-in-class experiences across its ecosystem.
