Microsoft is coming up with the Shared Audio feature for Windows 11, allowing users to stream audio between two separate pairs of Bluetooth headphones, earbuds, speakers, and hearing aids. The new Shared Audio feature uses Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio broadcast technology. According to Microsoft, itโs coming in preview to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels through Build 26220.7051 (KB5067115).
Here are a few fantastic benefits Shared Audio comes with:
Students can simply share their favorite music with friends or bring family members together by sharing movies, music, or other audio content between two connected Bluetooth LE-supported devices.
How to Access the Feature?
-
- You first need to pair and connect two Bluetooth LE-supported devices.
- The feature can be accessed through the new โShared audio (preview)โ tile in the Quick Settings menu.
- Once you enable this, users can play sound across two devices on the same network and end the session using the โStop sharingโ option.
As of now, the functionality is available only for Copilot + PCs, including the Surface Laptop (13.8-inch and 15-inch), Surface Pro (13-inch), and other business models powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X chips. Microsoft states that the company is planning to extend support to new models, like:
Samsung Galaxy Book5 series:ย
Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 | Intel Core Ultra Series 200
Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge | Qualcomm Snapdragon X
Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro | Intel Core Ultra Series 200

The rolled-out Shared Audio capabilities are on track with Microsoftโs previous LE updates, which enhance wireless audio quality for gaming and calls. Now, competitors such as Samsung and Google are already using Auracast technology to share audio across devices. Indeed, the competition is at its peak!
Lastly, Microsoft suggests Insiders testing the new feature, sharing feedback, and ensuring their devices and firmware are up to date with great experience, as Shared Audio plans to make a broader buzz!
