What does ‘BYOD’ Stand for?

BYOD abbreviated as “bring your own device” is the evolving trend towards the policy of allowing employees to bring their Personal digital assistants like smartphones and laptops, to their business workplace, and to use them for accessing business applications. This policy permits the employees to freely use theirs within the respective business entity. This practice is gaining pace with the growing IT, especially in the bigger sections of Information Technology.

Next, when we talk about bringing your own device, questions like how beneficial is it? Do companies look forward to implementing this practice in their organization? Come to our mind.  So, let’s take a deeper look into it….

  • The BYOD market is on target to reach nearly $367 billion by 2022, up from just $30 billion in 2014.
  • As of 2016, six out of 10 companies had a BYOD-friendly policy in place.

Therefore, it results as a medium to help employees feel more balanced while embracing a technology that’s being used worldwide.

Every Comfort comes with challenges, and this is truly justified in the case of BYOD. Allowing the workers to access their own devices saves a lot of energy and resources yet, it increases the risk of security for the employers in terms of information and applications. Employers will have to update their networks and security mechanisms should be updated for BYOD compliance, and new company policies must be made in order to practice a secured business with the least risk and complications.

Bring your own device and the Internet of Things (IoT) must go hand in hand for a better business, employers will look to create internal company application and project management systems, to maintain compliance. Owned devices should be tethered to corporate cloud storage services also helping to improve security at endpoints. The businesses that look forward to opting for external cloud services will also be able to minimize security, management, and technology costs along the way while adopting a BYOD policy that makes the entire operations better from top to bottom.

Keeping these challenges in mind below are top BYOD trends to follow:
